BRIEF HISTORY:


Birrus International Pty Ltd started in Melbourne as Rusden Birrel & Co. in 1948. For nearly 20 years the company imported goods from overseas and operated as a trading company. In 1980 when the trade name “Birrus” became well known in the aluminium and pneumatic conveying industry the company changed its name to Birrus Engineering Pty Ltd. The company became an Australian representative for of Alesa Engineering of Switzerland.
The company was further re-structured in 2001 when the various activities of the former enterprise were split and the Pneumatic Conveying division became Birrus International Pty Ltd.
To support its larger operations in the aluminium industry within Australia and worldwide the company entered into an exclusive agreement with Alcan Alesa Engineering Ltd. Of Zurich Switzerland. The agreement combines technology and worldwide resources of Alcan Alesa with Birrus technology and local knowledge to provide customers in Australia and New Zealand with world class solutions to materials handling problems.

ENGINEERING OFFICE

Birrus International is operating a fully equipped and integrated engineering office at its headquarters at 10 Dandenong Street, Dandenong, Victoria, Australia.

TEST RIGS
An important part of Birrus pneumatic conveying technology is the existence of their many test rigs, so that theories and predictions can be ratified in conditions which can be controlled to closely resemble the customer’s conditions. Birrus began using test rigs over 25 years ago, and today a comprehensive set exists.

PLANT & PREMISES:
The manufacture, assembly and testing of the pneumatic conveying systems are performed at the company’s headquarters at 10 Dandenong St, Dandenong. This plant is right beside the engineering office, so excellent supervision and feedback is easily achieved.
